Single item collection consisting of a typed copy of a journal kept by William K. Beall during the War of 1812. The diary begins on July 5, 1812, and ends August 4, 1812. Beall was captured by British troops while aboard the Schooner Thames on July 5, while crossing Miami of the Lakes on his way to Fort Malden. Beall and his companions, which included ladies, where unaware the British had declared war. Beall chronicles his capture, captivity, and the slow loss of personal freedoms during his time as prisoner. The Kentucky Historical Society does not have the original diary.
